You attempted a road less travelled in the morning. A trail that winds beyond one of the playing fields into light woods and meadow. Bounded by a bend in the river. Should have brought you out by the reconstructed water wheel further up the main trail.
These forays don’t always work out. A long pleasant loop found you back at the clubhouse where you began. One discovery along the way: a disused and thoroughly jungled-up iron bridge across the river.
