Crunch, crunch

Frosted grass crunching underfoot as you crossed the playing fields in the morning. A springy mat speckled with daisy heads as you headed home.

This the first day of 2011 that you’ve walked home in full sight of the sun. There in the Western sky not far above the treetops and going nowhere in a hurry. Daffodils in dappled spreads among the trunks. A pair of blossoming trees, one white one pink. Conifers and hollies among the bare deciduous giants. Tiny buds still just that, tadpole heads dotting the outermost twiglets.

N still sick, off nursery and off her food.
